Origins
It started with an observation. When his daughter was hospitalized at birth, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Randall A. Lipps observed how inefficiently medical supplies were managed, preventing nurses from spending more time directly caring for patients. That observation became a mission: better medication management designed to improve the standard of care. Randall went on to found Omnicell, Inc. in 1992 on this belief, and with one purpose: to help organizations optimize medication management so their teams can focus on what matters most — the patient and care team experiences and outcomes.
