Omnicell to Implement COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate
Supports commitment to safeguard health and wellbeing of employees, customers, and partners
Mountain View, California
Omnicell, Inc. (Nasdaq:OMCL), a leading provider of medication management solutions and adherence tools for health systems and pharmacies, today announced it has joined many leading companies that have made the decision to implement a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for the Company’s U.S.-based employees.
“As a healthcare leader it is important to us to provide and maintain a safe workplace free from serious recognized hazards,” said Christine Mellon, executive vice president and chief people officer for Omnicell. “After careful consideration of guidance provided by OSHA, the CDC, and other public health authorities, we are joining the many companies who are taking this path to protect our people and partners.”
The mandate, which takes effect October 4, applies to most U.S. employees (including temporary employees) and independent contractors.
“We know getting vaccinated is currently the most effective way to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As we aspire to be one of the most trusted partners in the health industry, we are compelled to act responsibly to fulfill our duty to those we serve and work alongside,” Ms. Mellon said.
The company recognizes that some employees may be unable to be vaccinated due to a legally-recognized disability or sincerely-held religious beliefs or practices, in which case exemption requests and reasonable accommodations will be considered.
