BJRx Pharmacy Embraces Innovative Automation to Offer Multimed Adherence Packaging to Support Improved Patient Health

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA – BJRx Pharmacy is pleased to announce that they are the first pharmacy in the San Joaquin Valley to offer medication adherence blister cards produced on the new Omnicell VBM 200F. This innovative automated solution accurately fills and checks a patient’s prescribed medications in blister cards right in the pharmacy. The medications are sorted in the cards by both day-of-the-week and time-of-day, helping improve overall adherence. With the addition of this technology, BJRx is able to support more patients staying at home or in skilled nursing facilities, with the ability to produce up to 500 patient cards within a 24-hour period.

“BJRx has always been committed to patient safety and improved heath, and investing in this advanced automation supports this mission. We are pleased to be able to offer both our retail patients and nursing facility customers these blister cards that are proven to help simplify the process of taking medications and following physician’s prescribed regimens,” said Jeannie Duckworth, BJRx. “We know that when patients take their medications correctly, they are able to live healthier lives and also helps to reduce emergency room and non-scheduled physician visits.”

More than 30 million Americans are taking five or more maintenance medications daily; however, approximately 50% of these patients aren’t taking their medications as prescribed. This practice costs the U.S. over $130B a year in avoidable expenses. Multimed blister cards have been demonstrated to improve medication adherence. These blister cards clearly organize daily medications in an easy-to-follow format, providing instant visual reinforcement of what medications to take and when. By having these cards filled by the pharmacy, patients and caregivers no longer have the stressful burden of sorting complicated medication regimens.

BJRx is a certified long-term care pharmacy. Those interested obtaining this valuable service from BJRx, a Good Neighbor Pharmacy, either as a patient or a partnering facility, may contact their Stockton location at 209-395-0555.
