Mountain View, Calif.

Omnicell, Inc. (NASDAQ:OMCL) today announced that LCMC Health has selected Omnicell medication dispensing technology for their newest state-of-the-art facility, the University Medical Center New Orleans (UMC New Orleans), which hopes to better serve the needs of people with complex medical problems and chronic diseases, while providing a Level One trauma center and disaster emergency response services to New Orleans.  LCMC Health is a Louisiana-based healthcare system serving patients throughout Louisiana and the Gulf South.

Working collaboratively, LCMC Health and Omnicell seek to bring industry-leading levels of quality and safety to medication management in the new facility through Omnicell’s medication automation and analytics offerings that help improve workflow in the central pharmacy and clinical units. By using Omnicell’s server capabilities to manage systems used in departments throughout the hospital, UMC New Orleans expects to deliver outstanding medical care to this region. Utilizing Omnicell solutions will also serve to implement industry-leading workflow processes, helping to foster collaboration between pharmacy and nursing teams in the new facility.

UMC New Orleans will provide primary and specialty care for patients, space for cutting-edge research and the region's only level one trauma center. UMC stands as the state's largest teaching hospital and training facility for doctors, nurses and allied health professionals. The goal of the hospital leaders is to shape the future of medical care in the region.

“As we near the opening of our new academic medical center, we are pleased to be working with Omnicell to support improved clinical workflows with our staff and academic partners. Omnicell’s innovative medication management technology is integral to UMC’s creation of a safe patient environment,” said Paolo Zambito, senior vice president of Strategy and Business Development at LCMC Health.

“As a company, we think about not just how our solutions help patients, but that these patients could very well be members of our family,” said Randall Lipps, chairman, president and CEO, Omnicell. “From founding Omnicell based on my own experience with my daughter, to supporting a hospital based in my hometown of New Orleans, where my own parents still live, we’re excited that LCMC Health has selected us as its partner in designing nurse workflows and medication safety policies in its new facility.”
