The OmniDispenser Module enables healthcare facilities to incorporate automated single-dose dispensing into existing Omnicell automated dispensing machines. With this module, access to medications is controlled and secure, restocking accuracy is improved, and nurses and other caregivers find improved efficiency, allowing them more time for patient care.

Ease of Use
For nurses and other users of the system, the OmniDispenser Module provides quick and easy access to medications. The module capitalizes on the intuitive, easy-to-use touch screen technology found on all Omnicell automated dispensing systems. Upon accessing the system with a few keystrokes or the swipe of an ID card, a few simple touches on the screen provide access to the appropriate medication.

Efficiency
A primary benefit to nurses and other users of an automated single-dose dispensing system is that only the specific quantity of a needed medication is available to the user, eliminating the need to confirm remaining inventories of controlled substances (i.e., no count-backs). Since medications are dispensed one at a time, there is little to no risk that the actual inventory on hand doesnt match the inventory noted in the system. Nurses can dispense medications and devote their time to patients, without concern for medication inventories.

The system also makes use of Omnicell's patented "guiding light" technology, which directs the user to the drawer where the medication is located.

Efficiency and Accuracy in Restocking
In addition to an intuitive hardware configuration, the OmniDispenser Module utilizes "guiding light" technology internally to guide restock personnel to the appropriate location of medications. Omnicell's push-button technology also aids restocking. When a medication is restocked, a simple press of the corresponding button notes the restock in the system. With these elements in place, restocking accuracy is improved—ensuring that the right drug is in the right place—and restock technicians are able to perform their tasks more quickly and easily.

Security
Since medications are dispensed in single doses, and access to other medications is limited, the OmniDispenser Module increases control and security over medications, decreasing the possibility for controlled substance discrepancies. This is particularly important for narcotics and high-value medications. The security benefits provided by the system also enable healthcare facilities to more easily comply with JCAHO and other regulatory standards.

Flexibility and Modularity
As a seamless addition to OmniSupplier® and OmniRx® cabinets, the OmniDispenser Module enables healthcare facilities to maximize their automation systems technology investment and incorporate automated single-dose dispensing wherever it may be needed. Multiple configuration options are available. One or many OmniDispenser Modules can be placed in any Omnicell cabinet configuration: OmniRx, OmniRx auxiliary units, One-, Two-, or Three-Cell OmniSupplier cabinets, and OmniSupplier auxiliary units. With multiple cabinet configurations, the OmniDispenser Module can be combined with any of the large variety of Omnicell Pharmacy Drawer types and other OmniSupplier storage options. A single OmniDispenser Module takes the space of six medication drawers. No matter what the need, a suitable configuration option can be found.
