Orange Regional Medical Center Selects Omnicell to Maximize Medication Management

Orange Regional Converts to Omnicell’s Leading Automated Medication Solution to Improve Medication Inventory Control and Enhance Safety and Security

October 12, 2010

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.

Omnicell, Inc., (NASDAQ:OMCL) a leading provider of system solutions to acute healthcare facilities, today announced that Orange Regional Medical Center has chosen Omnicell as its exclusive vendor for automated medication solutions.  After evaluating competitive product lines, Orange Regional chose Omnicell’s automated medication system to maximize inventory, enhance safety and increase medication security.

Orange Regional will be opening a new 383 bed facility located in New York‘s Hudson Valley in 2011, equipped with Omnicell solutions.

"The goal of our hospital is to provide optimal pharmaceutical care for the safety and welfare of our patients,” said Rob Lee, executive director of marketing and spokesman for Orange Regional Medical Center. “Omnicell gives us the tools to achieve this goal by allowing us to maximize space with medication readily available to nurses while providing patient safety features and medication security.”

Orange Regional will be using Omnicell’s proprietary Anywhere RN™ solution which allows nurses to review and select medication orders from virtually any hospital workstation.  Omnicell cabinets have the highest capacity per square foot of floor space out of all competitive offerings,  allowing Orange Regional to keep 90-95 percent of medications on the floor and available to nurses.

“Orange Regional came to us with a clear vision of how medication management could improve patient care,” said J. Christopher Drew, Omnicell senior vice president, field operations. “We are thrilled that our solutions met their rigorous criteria, and we look forward to working with Orange Regional in both its existing facilities and during the transition to the new hospital.”
